This page will act as a comprehension resource for students and parents to quickly access weekly activities to do at home.
Students should get a minimum of 30 minutes of Moderate Activity a Day! They should also go outside for at least an hour as well! I will provide a variety of suggestions for the entire week but by all means, please modify when needed or add to these activities. |
Top 5 Reasons Why Physical Education is as Important as School Work:
1. Enhances an individual’s ability to concentrate and maintain focus: 2. Important for healthy growth and development 3. Prevents sleep deprivation 4. Helps in relieving stress and anxiety 5. Physical education makes an individual flexible and happy |
Note to Parents & Students
Hello guys! I hope all of you are doing well and staying active! It is very important that you do at least 30 minutes of moderate to intense activity everyday to stay healthy! You should strive for this goal every day, however, feel free to do any of these activities that you want, as time permits. Note: Parents, these activities are meant as suggestions or enrichment for your child at this time and not as an "add on" to their regular learning. Please do not feel that you have to do them, if you are too busy with other matters! |
Activities without Technology:
1. Go for a 5 minute marathon power walk inside or outside, add in skipping, lunging, squats, ABC’s during the time frame to bring variety & break up the boredom 2. Quietly do stairs in your home, apartment or, noisily do stairs outdoors 3. Go for a walk with your family, take your pet dog or cat if you have one 4. Tapeball Games Find laundry basket(s) make a tape/sock ball of various sizes. Play tapeball hand hockey in a hallway, tapeball basketball, tape volleyball, tape handball or tape raquet ball against a wall, over a homemade net. 5. Do a random act of kindness; shovel off a neighbor, relative or Senior’s driveway, sidewalk or the snow around the sides or, foundation of their home to prevent water damage in Spring 6. Go Sledding - but make sure to Social Distance in appropriate areas! 7. Play Outside 8. Do some yard work for your parents! 9. Draw a Hop-Scotch outside - using chalk 10. Draw a 4 square and get a ball - we have done this with 2 squares 11. Go for a Bike Ride, Scooter Ride, or Run |
Week 8
Hello Forbes Family,
I hope you are all staying healthy and staying active! It is very important to get at least 60 minutes of moderate to intense physical activity in a day - this will make you feel good and keep your body healthy! My suggestion is to plan it for the exact same time everyday - since routines help to ensure we get it done! In addition, go outside! The sun gives us northern people much needed vitamin D, which also gives us energy! This week we are going to continue with the theme of Physical Literacy. This year we have worked on all several of the needed skills in a variety of ways. This week we are going to focus on Striking! This can be done by the body or through the use of an implement - racket, hockey stick, baseball bat, and more! Also, can you please fill out the activity log to let me know that you are staying active! ------------------------------------------------------------> Have a great week and have fun Knights! |
|
Physical Literacy Skill - Striking
Striking is usually done with an implement - like a racket, hockey stick, baseball bat etc. - but can also be done by using just your hand or leg (we will cover kicking later). This week you can use a variety of implements, however, try to remember some of the components covered this year in class: Use a proper grip for badminton - shake hands with it while the racket is turned up and down. Keep your knuckles lined up and hands together when swinging a baseball bat. |
