AIMS / GOALS:
The main purpose of the program is to assist young believers in nurturing their relationship with God in and through Christ in the context of a Spirit filled community. The Religious Studies Program is divided into eight units developed around the “faith summary” of the Apostles’ Creed. Through examining various themes outlined by specific learner outcomes and key concepts, students receive a chance to explore the dimensions of our relationship with God, Jesus and the community of the Holy Spirit. Through a variety of activities (celebration preparation, prayer / prayer activities, personal reflection, etc.) we will continue our journey into a lifetime of growing in faith. Course Content:
This course is thematically divided into spiritual units. The approach for the course follows a breakdown of approximately four weeks devoted to each of the following units: Unit 1: We Believe in the Holy Spirit Unit 2: We Believe in the Holy Church Unit 3: We Believe in one Holy and Apostolic Church Unit 4: We Believe in the Communion of Saints Unit 5: We Believe in…the Forgiveness of Sins Unit 6: We Believe in…the Resurrection of the Body Unit 7: We Believe in Jesus…Life Everlasting Unit 8: Amen |

The 10 Commandments are fundamental obligations or "rules" that lead us through our lives as we journey toward God, through ourselves and with others.
As our lives change, the 10 Commandments teach us different things and take on new meanings. |
Individual Sin
Individual sin is personal. It is a decision WE make that goes against the truth that is God. Sin is a DELIBERATE refusal to pay attention to the rules and guidelines set by the 10 Commandments and the Church.
Our CONSCIENCE is what prevents us from sinning, and requires development.

Social Sin Social sins are the structures and accepted practices in our society that make it hard for people to avoid sin. Social sins include unjust policies throughout the world. ACTIVITY Was there anything that surprised or shocked you? How will this information change your consumer behaviour? Do you think there is a need to change consumer behavior, or should there be a change in corporate behavior (Explain)? |
